AN ORDINANCE NO. 38-63, ZONING ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY OF MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA
An ordinance establishing comprehensive zoning regulations for the City of Montgomery,
Alabama, providing for the establishment of districts within the corporate limits
and police jurisdiction of the city. To regulate within such districts the height,
number of stories and size of buildings and other structures. The percentage of lot
that may be occupied, the size of yards and other open spaces, the density of population
and the use of buildings, structures and land To provide for off-street vehicle parking
and of street loading and unloading of trucks and other vehicles. To provide for methods
of administration of this ordinance, and penalties for the violation thereof To provide
for the establishment of a board of adjustment to assist in certain phases of the
administration of this ordinance. And to repeal existing zoning ordinances and conflicting
laws.
WHEREAS, the board of commissioners deem it necessary, for the purpose of promoting
the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the city to enact such an ordinance,
and
WHEREAS, all requirements of the laws of the State of Alabama, with regard to the
preparation of the report of the planning commission and the subsequent action of
the board of commissioners have been met. Now, therefore,
